Evonne Marzouk grew up in Evonne Marzouk grew up in Philadelphia and received her B.A. in writing from the Johns Hopkins University. Since 1999 she has worked professionally for the Environmental Protection Agency. As founder and executive director of the Jewish environmental organization Canfei Nesharim, Evonne worked with scientists, educators, and community leaders to create and distribute Jewish teachings on the environment, some of which were later gathered into a book, Uplifting People and Planet: Eighteen Essential Jewish Lessons on the Environment. Evonne currently serves on the executive board of GrowTorah and the steering committee of Interfaith Power and Light of the Greater Washington, D.C. area. Evonne’s inspirational Jewish novel, The Prophetess, was published in 2019. Evonne was a touring author with the Jewish Book Council in 2019-2020 and has spoken to schools, Bat Mitzvah programs, Hillel programs, synagogues and book clubs about the book’s themes and Jewish lessons. The Prophetess was also the focus of a successful kickstarter campaign for a “Grow into Your Gifts” Bat Mitzvah Present. You can follow her on instagram (@heroinewhisperer)

The Prophetess tells the story of an American teenager called to join a secret community of Jewish prophets. It’s a little like Harry Potter, except the main character is a seventeen year-old girl named Rachel. And the magical world she discovers is her own Jewish heritage — with some magic and mysticism mixed in.
