With great excitement we are delighted to announce that
The Jewish Experience has a new home, and it’s open to YOU!
In April 2013, we purchased a building at 399 S. Monaco Pkwy on the NW corner of Monaco Parkway and Dakota Street and in the Summer of 2014 we opened!
With Hashem’s help (and lots of people’s help, too) we renovated the New Center to make way for offices for TJE staff, classrooms, meeting spaces, lounge areas, teen rooms, a kosher kitchen, a Sukkah terrace, a learning library, and much more. Great for classes, events, programs, shmoozing, celebrating, debating, and of course, eating.
Although we’ve moved the central core of our operations to the New Center, we are still out and around in the community as we’ve always been. Programs, classes, and events take place at the New Center, the JCC South, in private homes, offices, and more!
UPDATE: January 2014
Dust is flying as the renovations continue. At the exciting groundbreaking event honored guests and community leaders took a few hard shots with a gold ceremonial sledgehammer against the brick walls, as windows will become doorways out to the Sukkah Terrace. Now the design team, including Laura Abramson Pritchard and Robin Smith, along with Daniel Krausz of Design Develop LLC, are choosing colors and carpeting.
We have a tentative first event on the calendar, a guest appearance by Rabbi Ken Spiro on February 19, 2014. Rabbi Leban says that if the Center isn’t ready by then he’ll eat his yarmulke.
UPDATE: December 2013
As the renovations begin, we are planning a Groundbreaking, to be attended by our City Council Member Mary Beth Susman and Attorney Doug Friednash. This Friday, December 13, 2013 at 9 a.m. on the South Terrace, in attendance with other rabbis and community leaders, we will formally launch the project.
We have a solid architectural plan, created by Daniel Krausz of Design Develop LLC. The project manager is Cliff Shumway, carefully making sure all the pieces come together on time and on budget. The General Contractor is Garrik Loptien, who recently completed a partial renovation of Hillel Academy. Dust is flying and the new center is on its way!
